MEET GENERAL INSULATION’S INDUSTRIAL ESTIMATING TEAM

Uncategorized

Clockwise from Top Left – Jesse Hernandez, Marissa Davis, Jed Moore, & Miguel Gonzalez

The Industrial Estimating Team assists the Industrial Sales Team and any General Insulation Company branch in turning over bids to customers in the Industrial Market all over the United States, and also for Export. In the Industrial sector the size of orders vary from $100 to Millions of dollars. Some projects we assist with are ongoing maintenance work (i.e. Lyondell Channelview, Lyondell Houston, Shell Lubes – Galena Park, Dow Facilities) where the bid volume is substantial.  Others are Capital Projects or Expansions (i.e. LNG facilities popping up all over the Gulf Coast) where the list of materials seem never ending (thousands of line items, multiple tabs). Within the Industrial Team not only do we put bids together but we also brainstorm with the branches on what the best logistical approach is for the overall scope of the projects. We work together with our customers to find alternate solutions for their needs, sharing our wealth in product knowledge and vendor resources. We are here to be an internal resource as well!

General Insulation – Your Industrial Estimating Team:

Jed Moore
Title: Industrial Special Project Manager
Years at GIC: 6 (5 years in Industrial Estimating, 1 year as 3M Firestop Specialist)

Originally from Central Minnesota, Jed moved his family to Round Rock, TX in 2010 making this his 10th year in TX. He was working at 3M in Saint Paul as a Technical Specialist for the Firestop division.  In 2009, the year his first son was born, there was snow on the ground in MN for 9 months and that made him decide to search for a warmer place to live. His second son was born in Austin, TX in 2012. Jed excels at helping customers make informed decisions on technical issues and being creative while working with his team members. Jed also has a 3-year history of working for blanket companies and is a great resource in this area. His knowledge is vast and without bound. Jed is an all-around very resourceful person.

Miguel Gonzalez
Title: Industrial Estimator
Years at GIC: 3; 8 years in Petrochemical Industrial Soft Crafts
Bilingual – English and Spanish

Miguel started his career in soft crafts with Safway back in 2012 as a scaffold builder, where he would help with building scaffolds and also help insulators during small turnarounds at the job site. Within Safway he was transferred to the yard and warehouse office to assist with the operations department for a few months before filling a vacant spot in the hiring department. There he filled multiple roles with hiring, training, and material ordering, including PPE and insulation. He went on to work for 4 years in the hiring department before moving to General Insulation in April of 2017 as a member of the Industrial Estimating team. Miguel is the guy that knows something about everything, humbly so. He is always willing to help and his math skills are super natural. He is very personable and has the ability to connect with everyone that crosses his path. He adds value by creating solutions.

Jesse Hernandez
Titles: Warehouse Clerk, Inside Sales, Warehouse Manager, and Industrial Estimating
Years at GIC: 7
Bilingual – English and Spanish

Jesse began working at GIC in the summer of 2013, pulling orders for customers as well as loading and unloading trucks. He worked side by side with Domingo Ruiz who taught him everything about General Insulation. He left GIC that summer to work for an oil and gas company, but then returned a year later as an inside sales person. He handled walk-ins, will calls, cold calls, and procurement at GIC’s Houston, TX branch.  After a year of inside sales, Scott Campbell promoted him to Warehouse Manager where he routed trucks, taught the warehouse personnel how to correctly pull and stage orders and increased the inventory accuracy. He worked closely with the Industrial Estimating team and once a position opened up he applied and was given the opportunity to join the team. After 2 years with the Industrial Estimating team, he’s taken ownership of accounts that deal with maintenance work. These accounts will order weekly, sometimes over 25 quotes per day. Jesse is very organized, efficient, and has a great company history that we are able to use as a resource when considering packaging, freight, and logistics. He takes pride in his work and is a true asset.

Marissa Davis
Title: Industrial Estimating Manager
Years at GIC: 3.5; 9 years in Petrochemical Industrial soft crafts

Marissa began her career as a site purchasing clerk for the Shaw Group where she was then promoted to Project Controls for 5 multi-craft (scaffold, insulation, and paint) Oxy site locations. She went on to work with Safway as a Bid Coordinator, as they were expanding more into a multi-craft subcontractor. Marissa handled a lot of the EH&S Prequalification’s along with creating and implementing processes to track productivity/forecast project costs for the multi-crafts. After a year Marissa was promoted to Estimating Manager where she established a department that maintained and facilitated efficient communication, organization, and resource deployment for the company. After 2 years a need for a Hiring Manager surfaced and she was asked to replicate her efforts. With a great team she designed and successfully executed a Hiring and Training facility where they were able to conduct high-volume project hiring. After 2 years an opportunity crossed her path to join GIC’s Industrial Team. Just 3.5 years ago upon Marissa joining GIC, it was just Jed and her estimating. A little over a year into her career with GIC she was promoted to Industrial Estimating Manager and the Industrial Estimating Team has grown to 4, taking on the company-wide Industrial quoting efforts. Approximately 70% of her Team’s efforts are situated in the Gulf Coast, however we have assisted several other GIC branches such as Los Angeles, Seattle, Atlanta, Chicago, Indianapolis, Ohio, and North Carolina – just to name a few.
