Although Steve was born in New York, he and his family frequently relocated throughout the United States (primarily Minnesota, Georgia, West Virginia, New Jersey, and Indiana) due to the demands of his father’s career with the Federal Bureau of Prisons. After high school graduation in Indiana, Steve moved to Tampa and attended the University of South Florida on academic scholarship. He graduated from USF with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with the intention to go into children’s social work.
After briefly working in social services, Steve began working for a third-party logistics company called Exel Logistics, a sister company to DHL. Steve worked as a dispatcher, router, customer service representative, and as a liaison between Exel’s Tampa office and the clients for whom Exel delivered goods. Clients included, among others, J.C Penney, Restoration Hardware, Office Depot, and Hon and Maxon Office Furniture.
In 2011, after working for two years at Exel, Steve accepted a position as Warehouse Manager for the GIC Tampa branch. In less than three years, Steve transitioned to Inside Sales and eventually Operations Manager of the Tampa branch.
“I credit my various work experiences in customer service, logistics, and retail sales as a foundation for the skillset that has made possible the opportunities I have enjoyed so far in my time with General Insulation, fortified of course by the development and progression I have experienced as a result of the stellar training and coaching by those for whom I have worked for the last 4 years. I am extremely grateful to have had so many opportunities offered to me in such a short period of time, and I have nothing but optimism and confidence for my branch and for this company as we look to the future.”
Steve has been in Tampa, Florida for 11 years, where he lives with his wife and two daughters.
